As the 2024 MIPS performance year begins, radiologists need to take note of two measures that have been removed from the radiology measure set. There are 6 measures available through CMS.
DELETED MEASURES:
Measure 147: Nuclear Medicine- Correlation with Existing Imaging Studies for All Patients Undergoing Bone Scintigraphy
Measure 324: Cardiac Stress Imaging Not Meeting Appropriate Use Criteria: Testing in Asymptomatic, Low-Risk Patients
Clinicians will still be expected to report at least 6 quality measures, with one designated outcome measure. If no outcome measure is applicable, they will be expected to report a High Priority measure.
Measures that have been retained for 2024
• Measure 145: Radiology: Exposure Dose Indices Reported for Procedures Using Fluoroscopy
o Measure Type: Process- High Priority
• Measure 360: Optimizing Patient Exposure to Ionizing Radiation: Count of Potential High Dose Radiation Imaging Studies
o Measure Type: Process-High Priority
• Measure 364: Follow-Up CT Imaging for Incidentally Detecting Pulmonary Nodules
o Measure Type: Process- High Priority
• Measure 405: Appropriate Follow-up Imaging for Incidental Abdominal Lesions
o Measure Type: Process-High Priority
• Measure 406: Appropriate Follow-Up Imaging for Incidental Thyroid Nodules in Patients
o Measure Type: Process-High Priority
• Measure 436: Radiation Consideration for Adult CT
o Measure Type: Process
Look for a New Measure in 2025
We expect CMS to finalize an additional measure for reporting in the 2025 performance year:
• Measure 494: Excessive Radiation Dose or Inadequate Image Quality for Diagnostic Computed Tomography (CT) Adults
