On January 11, 2023, Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra extended the Covid Federal Public Health Emergency (PHE) due to the highly transmissible omicron sub-variant concerns. The new extension pushes the now three year PHE into mid-April. Click here for information on the extension of the PHE.
Less than a week after the extension, House Republican members introduced a new act titled The Pandemic Is Over Act. If passed, the bill will terminate the Public Health Emergency (PHE), effective on the date of enactment. For more information on this new bill, please click here.
