Timely Filing Extension Set to End March 2021

January 27, 2021

The IRS/DOL announced certain extensions for Employee Benefit Plans, Participants and Beneficiaries effective March 1, 2020 during the COVID-19 national emergency.  While carriers are not required to follow the extensions, several carriers have implemented the extension of timely claim filing limits. These carriers have updated their timely filing policy by stating “Claims beginning on March 1, 2020 and ending 60 days after the national emergency is announced will waive their claim filing rules.”  Click here to read the alert and for more information regarding the regulation.

APS has actively researched carrier rules.  Some carriers who have opted to implement the extensions are Aetna, Cigna and United Healthcare (Commercial and Marketplace Plans).

APS will continue to monitor these policies and all others that affect your revenue cycle.
