With the implementation date of October 1, the change from ICD-9 to ICD-10 is now a month away. APS has been carefully preparing to accommodate this new platform of coding with as little disruption to the billing process as possible. ICD-10 has new conventions and expanded code sets allowing for a great level of specificity and clinical detail. As such, provider documentation will need to contain a level of detail that wasn’t required of ICD-9. Examples include laterality, episode of care, specific location/site, and manifestations.
APS has prepared the below white paper to illustrate this change and the added specificity it represents; this information can be readily used to supplement system updates and incorporate into dictation content as needed.
Please take a moment to review the below white paper for more information.
